Wellbeing at Work

According to the Office of National Statistics, work-related stress, depression or anxiety is defined as a harmful reaction to undue pressures and demands placed on them at work.

A degree of stress can be productive, but too much carries a cost in deteriorating performance, poor concentration or motivation, errors and disruption. More seriously, it can mean absenteeism and a high turnover of staff. Sometimes work is only one cause of stress, but factors outside the workplace - such as family issues - can have their effect during working hours.

European countries have found that productivity improves with lower working hours. However the demands of business may preclude this.

An increasingly popular way of supporting staff mental health and wellbeing is the use of Mindfulness, Guided Meditation and Hypnotherapy. Some of the most successful companies in the world use these methods - they work and lead to more contented and productive staff.

Saltburn Mind Therapies can help with a range of therapies delivered in two different ways.

The company can reserve appointments for one-to-one sessions with the therapist (for instance, Thursdays and Fridays at 2.30pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6.30pm). Staff can book, in confidence, for a time that suits them and the company, although experience shows that employees often choose to attend in their own time. It is recommended that the number of appointments reserved is reviewed quarterly.

Sessions can address personal issues such as stress, anxiety, fear of public speaking, problematic relations with colleagues, poor confidence and self-esteem. It is not recommended that they are used for weight loss or smoking cessation as clients who do not personally pay for such sessions tend to lack the motivation for those kind of sessions to be successful.

The alternative to one-to-one appointments is a group session in the workplace for guided meditation and focussed relaxation. You will need a warm, comfortable room with seats for those attending. The maximum number of staff recommended for each session is 15.  Sessions usually take an hour.

Your investment will depend on the number of staff in the programme.
